[ YOUR ADDRESS ] [FIRST NAME AND SURNAME OF MP ] MP for [ CONSTITUENCY ] House of Commons London SW1A 0AA Dear [ NAME OF MP ], I am writing with my concerns about road pricing (tolls) and the possible privatisation of England’s main roads. The Coalition Agreement ruled out tolls and any preparation for tolls in this Parliament, but this promise expires with the coming General Election. As a voter, I am strongly opposed to being charged tolls for using these roads. Motorists already pay five times over to use our roads. Tolls would divert traffic onto lesser roads, increasing local congestion and accidents. They would also increase delivery costs, pushing up the price of goods in shops. England’s roads should remain in public ownership and management. There must be no privatisation or some similar arrangement like a lease-off that falls just short of this. Can I count on your support, please, for opposing any form of road pricing or privatisation? Yours faithfully, [SIGNATURE & NAME]
