I wish to object to the draft Mayor’s Transport Strategy proposals, particularly The generally mean attitude towards motorists Car-free and car-lite developments to discourage car ownership Any measures to reallocate road space away from cars Gratuitous street closures on a flimsy excuse The gesture politics of car-free days The nonsense that streets are for people not cars. People use cars. The idea that some bureaucrat should decide if my journey is or is not essential The prejudiced assumption that using a car is necessarily less efficient than other forms of transport Unnecessary large population increases which will create more pressure on road space.
